Do you know what’s wrong with MTV?
I’ll tell you what’s wrong with MTV.

First of all, they are TELEVISION! ;-)
Their second sin is that they lost their focus (if they ever had one).

That’s what’s wrong with them!

Just like when Microsoft declared the WAR to Google, they committed a major SbeepCK! …as they didn’t realise they’ve made the very same mistake as MTV did: they lost their focus (if they too ever had one at all…), so they started chasing their opponent in stead of chasing their own vision.

Are you with me? Yes?
Good!

Don’t get me wrong, I’d really like to see some REAL FIGHT in between these guys; Microsoft versus Google (and not just teasing eachother act like often also performed by little kids) and even more other search engines companies being involved, so there come more serious competition on search engines market… and the webmasters get more independent and finally start building the websites the way they always wanted to build, in stead of the way the search engines want them to.

Search engines and SEO

What I mean to say is this: if I want to make this site a success (as the site itself is not any high-tech innovation at all, nothing we haven’t seen before, so it won’t get attention by itself any time soon…), I have to make sure it gets valuable/quality content. No worries, (valuable) quality content is my core business. That’s what I do…
But I also have to make sure this site gets a high PageRank and in order to get high PageRank, I have to make sure many other (relevant) quality and authority sites link to it. And I just hate doing it. It’s like prisoner’s dilemma. If I do it - I get screwed (it’s time wasting on something I shouldn’t be doing at all) and if I don’t do it - I get screwed (as nobody on the internet, in that case, would ever find this site). Either way, I get screwed. And that’s why (current) ranking system sbeeepcks!
That’s why SEO* has no home, nor future.

Are you still with me? Yes?..
Very good!

… and the result is: Google now owns YouTube. The future of digital (read = social) networks. Yes, it did cost them a buck or two… but hey, it’s about the vision.
The Internet is not about Operating Systems or .NET (Microsoft dudes, are you now reading this? Yes? Good. Pay attention then!). As far as the Internet is concerned, WE ARE THE OPERATING SYSTEMS, we are “THE NET”!

And sometimes you have to make a strategic move. To hurt yourself a little (to my opinion $1.65 billion was way toooooooo much money to spend for a website, even it’s YouTube we’re talking about), so you remind yourself that pain is not that scarry as when you wouldn’t feel it for a very long time. And that’s when it otherwise DOES become scarry. When you’re afraid to fall and fail.

Just as something very basic, as inline scating for instance. I haven’t done it for a couple of years now, but I like it a lot and I know the next time I stand on my inline scates, I’ll be scared a little. Then there are two things I can do: walk away and not to scate anymore (so I acknowledge my fear), or I fall a couple of times on purpose in order to lose my fear (my own scating method… which works fine for me!)

Are you still there with me? No?!!!
Noooo! I didn’t say “jump from your window”, in order to win over your Batophobia… you silly!

What I just said is, that MTV now a days is depressing! What the hell are they transmitting these days?
Have no idea. I lost them (fortunately).

Are you still with me? No?
Fbeeeeepck! — Not good!

Let’s therefore move on, to stuff that matters.

Alright, here I might UNINTENTIONALLY have given to much credit/discredit to people/companies I don’t even know… so forget about all I said, all I wrote above and all you’ve just read - forget all of it - because my REAL credits I want to give to someone else.

Take a look at this guy. No, don’t only look at him. You better listen to him!

Pounding Dead Heart – “Like a Goddess”, video, music & vocals by: Marcel Schiborr.
And listen now to Saskia (Marcel on accustic guitar).
Poets to their beloved, song “Love”, video.
This was by the way their first gig ever! (This video was made in Cafe Lokaal, in Heemskerk).
Their second gig was private, on my birthday party (together with Jan-Paul’s and Kitstone’s performance
on the very same evening, it was by far the most beautiful birthday present I ever had!)
2 years ago. What can I say, sometimes I simply feel VERRRRRY lucky even meeting such
a people, let alone having them play on my birthday party! :-)

And that’s what I call true artists! Screw MTV!

Like a goddess, makeup

A couple of days ago Sas came to my home for a cup of coffee and we did some try-out makeup, just in case the sun would shine during their gig on Summer Darkness festival in Utrecht, so she’d get such a makeup in combination with her new purple dress… but when I look through my window this morning, I don’t like it very much. It’s raining all the time. :-(

Green goddess eyes

Saskia Domisse, Like a Goddess try-out makeup, I made this photo with my Nikon D70s camera, without using camera’s flash.
The advantage of making a photo in a daylight, is that you’d otherwise never get such a deep green eyes
as when you’d make it in studio… I did blur the background a little so you can’t see my messed up kitchen. ;-)

But there is disadvantage too. As my livingroom is not a studio, purple glitter effects get completely lost on the picture. :-(

Another picture of Sas I made two days ago.

Anywayz, Poets are going to perform today and tomorrow in Utrecht on Summer Darkness festival, on an open stage… so if you’re lucky enough to even be there, check them out and have a fun!

And oh, don’t forget: you are who your friends are!

* For ordinary folks among us, here is my own SEO definition in plain English: SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”. People (webmasters) who optimize the websites in order to get them higher in search results, often call themselfs SEO …or are called SEO by the others. Search Engine Optimization is an Internet phrase, dated back in the mid-1990s and become seriously competitive business at the end of the century when Google arised and changed (untill that time) simple, well known, easy and often abused search algorithms entirely…
