Travel vaccines and immunity
It’s been a month now I haven’t been talking to myself. ;-)
But I’ve done many other things.
I find sometimes tips on the internet, telling that you should talk to your (website) diary daily, if you want to make it succes. I think it’s ridiculous.
You might talk to yourself and write in your diary on daily base, but if it’s all crap.. will it still become a succes?
In a short, haven’t publish anything here lately - but that doesn’t mean nothing is going on. I’ve done a lot and a lot happened behind the scene.
Photoshoots, buying a laptop, getting a vaccines cocktail (a booster for my immunity)… and a lots of party’s of course.
I also realise, I should make my posts shorter, so it’s easier to sit down and write a new post. It shouldn’t feel like an obligation.
Immunization vaccines cocktail
(Yellow fever, Hepatitis B, DTP & Typherix)
Last week I’ve been at GGD Kennemerland in Heemskerk, to get my first immunization vaccines cocktail. 4 injections in total, and these are following: Yellow fever vaccine, Hepatitis B (Engerix) vaccine, DTP Booster and Typherix.
How vaccines work
I understood there are many vaccine preventable diseases, but not all infectious diseases are dangerous for me. The nurse asked me about my travel route, then she showed me the worlds most important, versus most known diseases area’s - and gave me a few epidemiology folders. Which is good, ‘cause I have no much knowledge of epidemiology, except well known diseases names like: Rabies, Hepatitis B, Yellow fever, Malaria, etc… nor I really want to know how vaccines work. My world trip adventure is what matters to me the most at this moment, even I know I should care about possible infections and my own safety.
Next month she said, I should get another vaccination cocktail and half year later another one (not all injections will be the same)… pheeeeew.
Which makes me realise, how weak species we are.
Vaccine side effects
All I know is that some of given vaccines had side effects, perhaps it was an effect of all of them together… like when I’ve got home and started doing some work on my pc, I felt tired a bit and thought: ehmm.. let me lay in my bed for a while and take some rest, like an hour or so… but I woke up 8 hours later in stead!
So much about vaccine effectiveness and side effects. :-o
However, for the sake of safety, I’ve got optimal vaccine information that morning, it’s effectiveness and information about infections in general. She said I shouldn’t get in contact with local cats and pets while traveling through South-America for instance, in order to avoid Rabies and things like that… Then she explained me my vaccination schedule, possible consequences and effects it should (and even could) have on my immunity …and we were more or less done.
