Crisis, make-up and NLP
It was sunny day, with a huge crowd of people down the street when I went shopping.
I felt my legs too light and I walked too fast. It was too crowdy and I didn’t feel very comfortable. I felt a bit insecure and I was about to change that. It was time for a little NLP mental exercise on fly. A little mind workout.
* I was looking for one of my energy balls in my pockets but I haven’t find any, so I created one in my head. Then I took the energy ball from my pocket and I threw it into the air. I let it burst into a billion thiny pieces of light and let it fall like a curtain over me, creating a shield of light all around me, several feet in a diameter.
Then I anchored that picture while I walked further down the street.
Several minutes later, I felt my legs became heavier and I felt the ground under my feet. Also my walk became slower and I thought, well.. a little, not too obvious, smooth and reserved smile on my face wouldn’t do harm either. So I created one and I felt good again. — Fake it until you make it!
Then I started to search through my mind, what made me feel that insecure several minutes ago and then I remembered certain conversation with my bookkeeper the night before.
I was very angry about the huge tax I have to pay for my last year incomes. Then he said: “well, don’t be that angry, paying taxes also means it’s going very well with your business.”
“Doing well, doesn’t mean my money should be stolen by the criminals!”
(I was referring to the Dutch minister of finance and his bankers friends)
“First they steal the money and create so called crisis, then this stupid minister honors them for it, giving them my money to rescue their shitty business, then they go and party, hiring expensive h00kers and then they finally give themselves millions on bonusses! How can’t I be angry now?! It’s my fu*kin’ money!… If Al Capone was alive, he would be impressed now! Blah, blah, blah…” I continued.
“Yes, true, but don’t forget that your money goes to single workless mothers as well”, he said. And we went on and on…
At the end I thought to myself, well, as the chance that our brilliant minister and his bankers friends show any sign of regret, or even change their behavior.. is probably nihil, then perhaps some of those single workless mothers should marry me some day in stead.
She has to be young and good looking though, because I want children of my own some day too.
MAC shadesticks vs. Estée Lauder Stay-in-place ShadowSticks
Anyways, having thinking that and feeling good now, I walked into Pour Vous (Parfumerie Janny van Roon, Beverwijk) store, I was looking for MAC shadesticks, but as they don’t sale MAC** brand there, I took a look at Estée Lauder *** part of the shop.. and I found there Double Wear Stay-in-place ShadowSticks. I bought 3 of them:
01 Gold Pearl
04 Pink Shell
05 Silver Lilac
Bling, bling!! € 48,60!

Which brought me onto idea. Perhaps I should buy far more make-up this year and have far more business dinners with my colleagues; photographers, models and business partners - then last year.. so those bank and state criminals get nothing (or far less at least) the next year?!
In contrary, my bookkeeper suggested last night that I should concider to work less in order to pay less taxes — if that is what makes me angry after all.

* The mentioned NLP mental exercise is the one I designed myself. Please give it a try and let me know how it works on you.

Tonight I go to Enschede. Model Diana (also known as Lollita and from Ijmuiden shoot, check also making of smoky eyes …) said I may crash on her couch tonight (which is very kind of her!) Tomorrow we have a photoshoot in Germany with photographer Uwe, so we have to get up early. If I’d otherwise take the first train from Beverwijk tomorrow morning, I’d never make it on time, that’s why we do it this way.
If everything goes well, Diana is going to show me her city tonigt. We agreed not to make it late and certainly not to get drunk ;-) …as a great photoshoot is waiting for us the next day.

Beach babe eyes look, make-up video tutorial by: Lauren Luke
** To have an idea what to do with this shadowsticks, seeing this video might be a good idea. The only difference is that girl on a video (yeah, this girl rocks!) is using MAC beige-ing shadestick.
According to BBC she, Lauren Luke is a true “Make-up guru” and also YouTube make-up celebrity now.. and I think she really deserves it! Right now she is starting her own make-up line. You can say what you want.. but this girl made her dream come true !!!
If I ever meet her, I think I’ll buy her a drink. :)
MAC, Estée Lauder’s brand
*** As MAC is actually a brand of Estée Lauder, it therefore doesn’t really matter either you buy Mac’s shadestick or Estée Lauder’s ShadowStick. It’s all the same I guess, with only some little color differences perhaps - and price at most. For the rest even their weight (1.5g each) is the same.

@Laura, as I said, this girl rocks!
.. and yes, do try these shades, come then back to me and let me know what you think of it.
Personly I’m very curious about brand new Max Factor product as well: “Smoky Eye Effect Eyeshadow”. Recently they brought up a lots of dust in the media about their new eyeshadow set, so I suggest they better make sure their product is good… and otherwise I might ask my money back. ;)
L’oreal’s “Volume Million Lashes” mascara is something new that I’d like to try out as well.. to see if it really offers what they promise. It’s because I’m kinda suspicious guy whenever they make great promises.

Well I have tried L’oreal’s “Volume Million Lashes” mascara and I must say its nice and thick and I need less layers of that my normal mascarra but its didn’t really lenghthen or volumise that I could tell - it just was thicker and after like one application I was set to go!….? so i guess theres pros and cons!
Great page,
Thanks

Thanks Laura for sharing it with me. I think I’m gonna buy Volume Million Lashes tomorrow, for the shoot I have with one of my favorite models next Sunday - and as she has long natural lashes already, I think Loreal’s mascara might be just fine, because I hate doing it with multiple layers over and over again, just to make the lashes tick enough. But then again, I’m always curiosed about the (new) product.. so, you’ll soon probably gonna read my personal review about it.

I didn’t know Mac was a brand of Estee lauder, its funny I think Mac is so much cooler than Estee lauder and they seems to have better shades! but its actually just the packaging thats differnet it can be deceiving! glad its saved you in your time of need!
Thanks,
Laura

Sweet heart, a whole world make-up empire belongs to more or less two big companies. One of them is thus Estee Lauder and the other one L’Oreal. Check it out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Est%C3%A9e_Lauder_Companies#Brands
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Or%C3%A9al#Merken
Let’s say, these guys run the show. ;)
Bought L’oreal’s Volume Million Lashes, and Max Factor’s Smoky Eye Effect Eyeshadow, 4 different pieces. Gonna test it tomorrow (have friend on a visit), Friday (giving make-up workshop) and also on Sunday (have a photo shoot). Very curiosed and excited! :))
Oh by the way, Max Factor’s Smoky Eye Effect Eyeshadow sticks are ridiculously packed, broke almost my nails and still didn’t mannage to get the plastic away, had to use a sharp knife. Then under that marvelous plastic packing layer, they had awesome aluminium stickers protecting the anti-theft chip, with really nasty glue, even when you remove it, the stick still glues to your fingers… u can’t wash it normaly either! What were they thinking, to glue thiefs with it or somethin’?! Really nasty stuff - so, I’m not happy about it at all! I mean, while making so much money with luxury, don’t they have folks who test usability issues??? Come on! I didn’t pay 14 euro a piece, to have my nails broken and fingers glued!… I’m sure many girls are freakin’ on these things too.

Oh well I am sorry for your poor nails! and thanks for the info on the big two makeup giants, how interesting! I can’t really empathise on the whole nail thing, I have gioven up on acrylics and falsies almost two years ago now, after I bent my nail back and my nail underneath the acrylic died so when I got them taken off, my thumbnail was completley gone!;-( but talking about nails I just saw Lady Gaga on front of Marie Claire ( looking amazing) with nude coloured nails! so I just bought some gorge nude nail polish from Sally Hansen which is amazing, keeps my nails strongs and stays on for days! ( you should check out the cover of that Mag - last months edition I think - makeup is fab!)
Have a great photo sesh this wkend! hope you like Volume Million lashes!
Thanks,
Laura x
