Indian bride
Indian bride photoshoot in Mumbai.
A long waiting Indian photoshoot that wouldn’t get off the ground in Delhi but happened extremely quickly in Mumbai, resulted at the end in four photoshoots, all four in one week. Three of them with the photographer Tanvi and one of them with the photographer Himanshu. It was hard working, done six models make up on our first day of shooting and four on a second day. Third shooting day (with Himanshu) was easy, we had only one model and the last day was relatively easy as well, with just two models…
After each shoot (and also evenings without shoots :)), I’d go and meet people in Bandra’s Toto’s pub (located at Pali Naka neighborhood). A good one, with relaxed people, good pop/rock music and some easy Indian food. Would sit there with the photographer Himanshu and/or my couchsurf friends I met either in Mumbai or underway.
Time for Indian wedding and some bridal make-up. :)
My first shoot in Mumbai, bridal make-up
Working together with Tanvi (photographer) and Gigi (clothing designer) was amazing. Both professional, young, flexible and ambitious. The shoot was just the way I like, even though bridal make-up is not my thing. But this was different. This was not just common bridal make-up - but Indian wedding bridal make-up. Very colorful and thus different, just like Indian wedding itself.
Yet, this one was quite opposite to a traditional wedding (make-up, clothes etc) style, and miles away from something like Javanese bride.

Photographer Tanvi
Tanvi Madkaiker left the staid and colorless world of academics behind in the spring of 2008 when she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising.
A would-be fashion photographer who’s fascinated by dilapidated old buildings, barber shops and clocks, Tanvi regularly mixes the elegant with the absurd to produce work that is hers and hers alone.
A young and instinctive photographer, Tanvi upholds all the romantic, individualistic and iconoclastic ideals of photography as she knows it and is in constant pursuit of perfection.
Currently working independently on a variety of projects, she has been published in reputed publications such as, Society Interiors and Marie Claire.

Indian wedding bride collection
Within Indian wedding / bride clothes collection, Gigi designed twelve wedding costumes and they all had to be photographed. One better then the other. What can I say… the girl is a genius! And so is Tanvi.
These “Indian bride” pictures, should actually speak for them self.

One word describe all… “WOW!”
Did you take part in any photo-shooting competition?
September 1st, 2010 at 12:53 am
Then maybe it’s time for another photoshoot in Mumbai. :))
@mehndi patterns books, no, I did my life competitions already, now I feel honored to perform as member of jury, even it’s just for once in a life time. It’s something new, so it’s exciting and therefore it’s fun. Let’s hope it’s gonna be an educational experience too.
http://www.worldtravelingartist.com/2010/07/27/worlds-first-online-make-up-competition
… but don’t take it too seriously, because it’s about creating - and art in it - in first place, and as creations and especially art go above competing with eachother (for me though), competition is of course being important, but it’s still a secundary thing. It’s rather about who you really are and what you do - what you create, in stead of per se being better then someone else.
To give you an example; each time I won a wrestling or running competition (as I did when I was a teenager!) it gave me a feeling: “See boy.. you did it again!!! Time of disbelief is over, you can be a winner - and achieve anything you want!” … while medal on my wall (the official price) on the other hand, was just one of many in the row, thus not so special anymore.
True lovers of art can recognise that value.
Oh well, not so sure if it’s value at all.. or just attitude. Valuable attitude perhaps. ;)

Agree, indian wedding posseses many rich colours and especially large usage of GOld.
On top of that, indians have very sharp pretty distinct features that will definitely enhance the photos taking
I hope you have great fun with the photography session!

Alexander, nice shots. However, i don’t suppose they could be real indian brides. Indian brides should be in wedding dresses atleast just like every bride. They’re in plain punjabi dresses mostly.

@16, as you can read, I worked with young photographer, clothing designer and models back in Mumbai, so this article is not about traditional Indian brides wedding dresses.. but about their own view on Indian Brides and Wedding today - and in the future. :)
