Funny Hong Kong people
During my stay in Hong Kong, I contacted about 15 local model-photographers and only one of them went along with me. Photographer Ho thus. We had two models planned but we eventually ended up with both photoshoots canceled, for very different and doubtful reasons. The first model said her mother was suddenly ill and the second one said (just one hour before the shoot, when I called her for confirmation) that “something happened”. She didn’t specify what.
So, after that experience, I was honestly thinking to forget about that whole Hong Kong shooting and enjoy my last days in the city, but then Nikki came on my path. She invited me spontaneously for a drink by e-mail and I soon discovered that this girl had more or less all model’s capabilities, even she was not a model at all, So I asked her how would she feel about the photoshoot if I still could get a photographer, and she said she would love to. As the matter of fact, she was very excited about it.
The same day I gave her a tryout make-up while we were sitting in some restaurant-café (something to remember! :)), having fun together, talking, laughing, watching and studying people on the street, and the next day we already had a shoot… what would become an “outdoor shoot”. It was just one day before I would leave Hong Kong… So, I had my photoshoot after all.
Funny people
While often using Hong Kong’s metro, I’ve seen people being in hurry and running all the time. Yet, they were mostly late. Well, that’s perhaps why they run. Or they otherwise run for fun. ;-)
Hong Kong people that I had appointments with (four girls and two guys in total I think) for instance, except being extremely polite and very kind, happily showing me around their city, taking me to the beach… or simply having lunch, dinner or just a drink with me — were ALL late — with no exceptions, but one. Which is pretty funny, because some of them even insisted that I be on time. :p
What can I say… but funny Hong Kong people!
Outdoor photoshoot
My outdoor photoshoot with model Nikki and photographer Ho (professional graphic designer and photographer: www.designho.hk), on very rainy day. The very same night there was Typhoon (T3) signaled. So, it was hot and very wet before - and after the shoot. Doing Nikki’s outdoor make-up was thus a big challenge for me.

Nice…. that in the end you arranged this shoot for yourself, and that you could enjoy it twice with your story about it.

@Diana, glad you like it. I’m in Indonesia (Java) now. In a small village called Jepara (with only one million inhabitants haha…) where I have little vacation. After two month of travel and staying in big cities, I think I needed it. My room is only 20 meters from the sea and surrounded by palm trees. True little paradise, with no tourists around.
Here I’m drinking (a lots of) Bintang beer with Koos Mooij and learning sailing on catamaran…
Thursday I’m going to arrange a couple of shoots in Jakarta and then next week Sunday I’ll be on my way to Down Under. ;-)

@Koos, I had one shoot in Jakarta, I think the pics are great (of what I saw on photographers camera Friday). For the second shoot the model didn’t confirm her availability, so far I know.. and that one was thus silently canceled…

@Koos, the reason you couldn’t call me, is that I lost my mobile the very last night partying in Jakarta. It’s all on the page, check “Total Madness” post.. and stop worrying. It makes people old. :p
