Top 7 of most frequently lost (80’s shoot)
We lose things in our daily life very often, let alone when we travel. As the matter of fact, when we travel, we lose things very frequently.
At least, it happens to me all the time.
Very annoying something.
Alright, here comes my “top 7 list” of things that I’m losing most frequently during my travel.
- 4 mobile phones
- 5-10 pairs of socks
- 5-10 pieces of underwear
- 5-10 bottles of shampoo
- 2 or 3 mobile phone cables
- 3 or 4 t-shirts
- Cigarettes and lighters
1. Mobile phones
Well, the mobile phones are small and always in the pocket. When moving a lot, I either forget them in the cab, they fall out of my pocket elsewhere or just get stolen. It’s pointless to keep buying new ones, as statistically seen, I for example, kept losing one phone a month. So, buying second hand one (mostly black & white screen Nokia’s) that can only send text messages and call, is far better option. It hurts less once the phone gets lost again.
2/3. Socks and underwear
Socks and underwear are small too - and get often not seen when emptying laundry dryers.
4. Shampoo’s
Very frustrating one. Shampoo’s gets often forgotten under shower when leaving the place… While leaving, it’s normal to be in hurry or even little under stress when packing the stuff… And when coming to a new city, the first thing I normally do (after usually a long distance trip) is of course having a long, long …very long :) shower. Surprise: no shampoo in my bag! F*ck!
When arriving at evenings, it ain’t always that easy to find a shop and buy a new one. That really sucks!
5. Mobile phone cables
Also very annoying and frustrating experience. I’d usually discover I lost my phone cable when my phone gets empty and needs to be recharged.
Huston, we have a problem! :-/
6. T-shirts
T-shirts get most often lost under beds or elsewhere at places where I stay. I mostly notice it weeeeeeeeeeeks after I lose them. I guess because I’m a guy. If I was a woman, I’d either never lose them - or I’d notice it much quicker if I would lose them after all. ;-)
7. Cigarettes and lighters
Boy…. I’m losing cigarettes and lighters all the time. Needless to mention.
Robbed travelers
As I meet people (met a few of them already) during my travel who also lost their money and passports.., I’m very fortunate to say that this didn’t happen to me (yet). Mostly the travelers get robbed and thus lose their money, passports, and sometimes also a whole luggage.. by not being careful enough, either because they get drunk, become over-confident, or just happen to be at wrong place, wrong time.
My philosophy is, when returning to a hotel, or where ever one might go… after midnight and in a strange city: take a cab!
Screw a few bucks!
No discussion.. period.
80’s shoot
My first contacts in Santiago were photographers Rodrigo Riviera, Rodrigo Basaure and Suna (she’s also a model). Kinda alternative artistic rebellion/underground group of people who enjoy to work (also and especially to party!) together. This was our first shoot: 80’s theme. More civilized one. :)

It was an outdoor shoot, with minimal equipment. Rodrigo Basaure is the guy with a hand of steel, really! He shoots exclusively, without flashes - any other helping lights or anything at all.
“In the beginning I didn’t have money to buy flashes but now I don’t need them, nor I even want them!”
That’s what he said.. super cool approach to photography, I would say.
