fightclub thumbFight Club, making of ..in pictures. Street fighting women. Santiago, Chile.

My bank card is lost. It’s gone… My throat hurts as hell and I’m sneezing like a dork. My ears and nose are clogged, so I can hardly breath and I can’t hear a sh*t. And crossing the streets in Lima is dangerous, even when you could hear and smell everything like a dog.

I guess cold showers in Santiago and Lima’s ho(s)tels have done their work.

And maybe this time I should listen to my body and not bring myself into situation as at the beginning of my trip, when it was so bad that I had to use antibiotics and painkillers several weeks long. No idea what I was hit with back then in Finland… but it was nasty and painful. And I can not permit myself to go through it again. I don’t want antibiotics. Twice in six months time would be just too much and would damage my natural resistance badly.

Maybe this time I should just go home. I’m also tired a little and miss my own shower and bed.

People on Facebook and some other social networks say I shouldn’t go home, I should finish my trip, I should fight back and stuff… which is very noble of them. Yet, I don’t see this as defeat nor failure and it’s hard for me to distinguish: what exactly am I supposed to fight?

It’s just a trip, not a fight.

I’ve been around the world already and I’ve done my make-up thing as planned.. as I wanted to. Above of all, I had a lots of fun! And if I miss now two countries (Brazil and Spain) and go home — 3 weeks earlier then planned — big deal. I can also visit these countries during my second trip, or my third trip even. So, nothing to worry about.

My feeling says to go home, but the flight seat is unavailable at this moment… the first free seat is on 29 September.. thus after eight more days.

Right now I have 20 Euro left and my current hotel is paid until tomorrow. At 11am I have to check out.

This morning I posted an emergency message on a CS forum and 3 Peruvian people have called me and offered their help already. I appreciate that a lot. It says also something about the country. So, I’ll go and talk to some of them tomorrow morning after I check out.

Street fighter

Coincidentally, a beggar bumped on me this morning too. She carried a child on her back and asked me for some money. I only smiled to her and shook with my head.. but she went on and on.. which reminded me once more, that I’m a ‘rich white guy’ after all. :p

Or maybe it’s how I walk or how I’m dressed?! Could be. I honestly don’t know.. Yet, it surprises me a little that beggars are unable to filter these things.

The point is: she lives on the street every day — so, she should be able to see through me. She should be able to read my body language and see that I’m in trouble. An average street fighter should, at least.

I think beggars are on automatic pilot.. and either feelingless/senseless or zombies. I could be also wrong on this one. But that’s just what I think.

Of the record: I don’t believe my bank card is stolen. I always keep it in my wallet and I still have my wallet (and my passport). So, I think it somehow slipped out of my wallet, or I just wasn’t concentrated enough and left it behind in the ATM machine while taking some money at the airport… or it otherwise disappeared some other mysterious way. Who knows.

  1. Ville Paul says:

    Awesome stuff!

  2. Michael says:

Coolest series of pics I’ve seen in ages. Great work on make-up, you gay man!

  3. O' ten tic Tim says:

Nice work, pal! Only 1 slight thing: in ‘Double Attack 2′ Ginger has put her left hand resting on her knee. No way! That is not an attacking pose. In a double attack, all hands are needed. Whenever you are going to shoot action alike photos, imagine fitting in the action too. Feel the action! You won’t allow yourself to make such (minor) mistakes.
And… get well soon, either here or there! (Always follow your heart)

  4. Alexander says:

@Ville Paul, thanks! Yes they are.. Rodrigo is a great photographer!

@Michael, u should watch your a$$ the next time we shoot together whaha.

@O’ ten tic Tim, thanks buddy! Yes, I think you’re right. That hand on ‘double attack 2′ shouldn’t be there.. but hey, I’m just a make-up artist, not a photographer.. remember?! ;-)

  5. O' ten tic Tim says:

Sure you are. And a pretty good one I think! On the other hand, I would wish my work to be shown as good as possible. In this picture a displaced hand attrackts attention, where it should be elsewhere.
Considder yourself a lucky man: there IS a possibility of improvement. (What would you do, knowing it could only get less perfect?)

  6. Alexander says:

Whaha… you like tricky questions @O’ ten tic Tim, don’t you?!
If I knew it could get only less perfect, I think I’d start making things look ugly. So, in that case, “less perfect” of “ugly”, means…. what? ;-)

Once more, thanks for the flowers!

  7. O' ten tic Tim says:

You are more than welcome! (Including welcome home. Today?)

  8. Alexander says:

No, not today anymore.. yesterday. It was a good ride. :)

  9. vincent rijs says:

    Great work, dude!

Looking forward to see you again in good health……

  10. Alexander says:

@Vincent, thank you! And I’m looking forward to see you too. Bought a new phone today, but no simcard yet.. gonna get one from a friend. She said she’s also gonna buy me a dinner tonight. Whooohooo.. :))

Maybe I should marry someone like her. ;-)

In short: I’ll call you soon. But mail me your number first because I don’t have it anymore whaha.

  11. LO says:

If you marry some one like me …………..you first have to clone me i’m the only good wife in this world ;)
the only problem is that i don’t make -up one hour a day :):)

  12. Alexander says:

@Lo, then it’s probably gonna be some hot Latina chick. I want the mother of my kids to be passionate & beautiful (at least).. and Latina’s stand an hour a day in a front of the mirror anyway. In general, they are good with make-up because they use it all the time.. and it’s obviously important to them to look good. So, they naturally make men blood go boil. Certainly mine.

Also, performing as a make-up artist in South America ain’t easy at all. Almost all women there are as good with makeup as make-up artists them self …

… but no worries, you can of course keep buying me dinners. I like it very much when woman pays. I think other women should do that too, in stead of getting free drinks their whole f*ckin’ life.. just because they think they are pretty. ;-)

P.S. There are no good wifes in this world.. all witches! I’ve been around the world, so I can say that. :)

  13. LO says:

depends what is good…. i ‘m sure good enough :):) ……..but some men can’t and / or won’t see it…..EGO balloons they are you know
and ..haha true love goes through the stomach ….they say ..or what ever
maybe if you call me sometimes i’ll prepair some meals

  14. Alexander says:

Alrighty… Screw EGO balloons! I baptize you now into my “buy me a dinner girlfriend”. :)

  15. LO says:

didn’t remember that you BAPTIZE also….. new Job or new hobby??
what kind of stuff you used for it ( water, beer jaga, wine….)

  16. Alexander says:

    No, not hobby. Business.

I recently started this baptizing business ..after I visited certain ’saints and sinners’ bar, back in Christchurch, NZ. Remember?!
Also, I couldn’t stand that Indian guy’s lies (saints and sinners) anymore… so he got baptized as well.

Water, beer, wine, jaga.. none! I rather just drink those. :)

  17. LoVeK says:

…hmmm so you want me to do more readings in your bible
i told you i read everything and had some bad and some good times while reading your stuff
But what ever you did a great traveling and i’m proud of you

  18. Alexander says:

Reading.. bible? Did I say all that??? Forget it then.. buy me one more dinner. :))

  19. LoVeK says:

@alexander are you that hungrey?? you can call or did my number Stuck in Peru?

  20. Alexander says:

    Hungrey NO, hungry YES. :p

And I don’t think your mobile number got stuck in Peru. I lost it in India.
Have still your regular phone number though.. can you please mail me also your mobile number?

  21. Cailin says:

Fab article and fantastic photos! I’d love to interview an artist like you.

  22. Alexander says:

@Cailin, thank you! “The Beauty Bunny” is a cool site too. If you want an interview, please mail me the questions and I’ll answer all of them.

  25. Alexander says:
