Make-up artist, professional info
I’m professional (certified) make-up artist. The make-up I currently work with is “Studio Make-up”, which is not tested on animals as it matters to a lots of people (and to me as well!), and it’s skin friendly (it’s maker says - and I agree), I also use Pupa, Clinique (liquid) and MaXfactor (natural minerals) foundation, incl. some of their (Pupa) eyeshadow sets, Estée Lauder ShadowSticks, ShiSeido Hydro-powder eye shadows & Bourjois eye pencils (a lots of Bourjois pencils! These are my favorites at the moment), and for quick make-up, I might sometimes use L’Oreal glitter eye pencils which are designed to be the eyeliners as well as eyeshadow-pencils. But these are unfortunately limited in colors and hard to sharpen.
In short, I use the products that are professional enough and that I like at the moment.. and it’s constantly changing. I’m not a slave to any well known brand, unless they pay me well for it. ;-)

Before I start, I use “Nivea” visage cleansing milk, tonic and day cream …
And last, but not least:
I never, ever put anything on someones face (or any other part of the body) before I’ve tested it on my own skin first!
Another important thing you can definitely count on: my brushes are always clean!
These are perhaps the reasons that I haven’t receive any complains so far.
Here is my list of other (not less important) things you can also count on when dealing with me:
The way I do my make-up work
- As a make-up artist, I don’t easily lose my concentration, patience and my temper.
- I have enough chewing gum in my suitcase, so the models won’t suffer from my (smoker’s) breath.
- I mostly have fun, making here and there a joke during my work, the models won’t easily get bored or nervous.
- As every photoshoot starts on my make-up chair, I make sure each model gets totally relaxed and stands in a front of the camera with a huge doses of self confidence, even it’s her/his first time.
- When I’m (occasionally) having a bad day, I keep my mouth shut and just do my work.
- Before I start, I prefer to inspect model’s clothes first and then ask the model and photographer what do they want.
- Before, and during the shoot I drink a lots of coffee, black, no sugar.
- I make sure the most of the models leave the shoot feeling as diva’s.
- I show up on my appointments, even after going out or having a party all night long. (Can sometimes be an hour late though. Plan therefore your shoots with me NEVER early in the morning.)
The way I don’t work
- I don’t let anyone command me. In general, I see people on the shoots as equal and expect from them the same.
- I don’t let anyone time my work. I work with pencils and expect from photographers to work with their camera’s, not with their watches. I don’t work with photographers who are in great hurry, under too much stress or just acting like a$$holes for whatever the reason.
- I don’t do photoshoots without my own input.
- I don’t work with photographers who are only up to get the models (against their wish) out of their clothes. When photographer tries that, taking advantage of a model who is not confident enough to say NO!, I’ll always jump in and say something about it.. as I’ve (unfortunately) done that in the past a couple of times already. Protecting the model and my own reputation go first. No respect = no deal.
Just for the record: as far as I’m concerned, there is nothing wrong with (artistic) naked/nude pictures, as long as it’s model’s own wish, the model is an adult, the accent is set on creating ARTISTIC pictures - and it’s settled BEFORE the photoshoot, NOT during the photoshoot.
.. I’ve been involved a couple of times in this kind of shoots too, so I can tell the difference when its’s done the right way - and when it’s definitely not.
Sooo ….
If you want to find out more (about my background), then you might want to read this page, as I believe the guys who are willing to invite me to their homes and their studio’s deserve to know that.
